Class ’73 Globelines stopped Class ’82 to win the premiere Class A division for five straight consecutive years while Class ’89 prevailed in Class B category of the just-concluded Negros Occidental High School Inter-Class Alumni Bowling Tournament at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.
It was the first title for Class ’89 since joining the event three years ago.
Carrying the colors for the Globelines were Felipe Boy Romero, Hernand Garciniego, Gene Guanzon, Jessie Torres, Francis Divinagracia, Bert Aragon, Grace Garcia Ong, Grace Zollinger and Jose Butch Villagracia.
Class ’73 overpowered the Cesar Sumaylo’s led Class ’82 in the finals, 542-519 to win the crown and the top prize.
For their part, Class ’82 downed Class ’66 in the quarterfinal and also won over # 2 seed Romel Jover’s Class ’74 in the semi-final to qualify for the final showdown with the Class A top qualifier Globelines.
In Class B category, the Class ’89 pintopplers defeated the twice-to-beat and host Class ’84 led by Ruby Gliz Cordero in the championship to win their first championship belt.
The members of the winning squad were Richard Biasca, Glori Edna Reynaldo, Ronella Cordero, Devonne Fernandez, Erwin Aguero, Erfe Del Castillo, Rommel Nietes, Rimando Ibrajas, Arthur Alicante, Neil Cuevas and Ritchie Alfiscar.
Class ’70 and Class ’58 settled for second and third runners-up.
In the consolation contest, Class ’68 anchored by Cero Cordero and Class ’67 headed by King Yap and Celso Serfino were the winners in Class A non-winning entries, while combined Class ‘59/56/54 won in category B.
Newly-installed NOHSSAI president Cmdr. Mariano Tuvilla, outgoing president Capt. Jose Garcia and tournament chairman George Acot distributed the cash prizes and trophies to the winners.*HLG
