2 hit by Ceres bus die

Two girls, aged 11 and 9, were killed when they were bumped by a Ceres Liner passenger bus yesterday in Brgy. Tabigue, E.B. Magalona.

Police Officer 1 William Pacurib, E.B. Magalona PNP Traffic Investigator, identified the victims as Beverly Benedicio, 11, and her sister, Mary Grace, 9.

Pacurib said Beverly was declared dead on arrival at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.moremoremore

court orders ex-dad

A judge has ordered a former councilor to pay the vice mayor of Sipalay City P1.3 million in damages for alleging that he overpriced the purchase of medicines for the city.

Kabankalan RTC Judge Henry Arles ordered former Sipalay Councilor Carlos Buenavista Legislador to pay Oscar Montilla, former Sipalay mayor and now vice mayor, P1 million by way of moral damages, P200,000 in exemplary damages, P100,000 in attorney’s fees and the cost of litigation, a copy of the decision furnished the DAILY STAR by lawyer Graciano Arinday Jr. yesterday showed.

Montilla, who is now vice mayor of Sipalay City, told the court  that after he was elected mayor in 2001 the tailings from the closed Maricalum Mining Corp. generated “dust storms” which caused immediate danger to the health of his constituents, like respiratory ailments.moremoremore

Talisay bet
crowned Lin-ay ’09

The crowd knew it was coming. Then, she was finally crowned.

Sixteen-year-old Vickie Marie Milagrosa Rushton of Talisay City won the 2009 Lin-ay sang Negros title during the annual pageant’s four-hour show at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City last night.

First runner-up was Himamaylan’s Ciara Mae Pirote, while Rajevie Ravindrakumar of Escalante City was adjudged second runner-up.moremoremore
