heat up Negros polls

Seven more mayoralty bets, including former Pulupandan Mayor Luis Mondia, and a candidate for congressman of the third district of Negros Occidental, filed their Certificates of Candidacy before the Commission on Elections yesterday.

Luis Mondia Jr. filed his COC for mayor of Pulupandan town, with his younger sister, Gina Mondia Villanueva, as his running mate.

The return of the Mondias to challenge their political nemesis, Pulupandan Mayor Magadaleno Peña, is expected to heat up politics in Pulupandan. moremoremore

COCs in Bacolod


Nineteen more candidates, including two who are running for mayor and two for congressman, have filed their certificates of candidacy in the Bacolod City yesterday led by the group of former National Capital Region Land Transportation chief Ricardo “Cano” Tan and Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella.

Tan and Puentevella are running for congressman and mayor of Bacolod City , respectively, under the Lakas-Kampi-CMD although they do not belong to one local party.

Both filed their certificates of candidacy after attending separate masses at the Bacolod San Sebastian Cathedral yesterday together with their supporters. moremoremore

Coscolluela names
Elumba running mate


Sugar Regulatory Administrator Rafael Coscolluela, who is running for governor of Negros Occidental, yesterday said his running mate will be Dr. Enrico Elumba, former La Castellana mayor.

Coscolluela said he, Elumba , Murcia Mayor Esteban Coscolluela who is running for congressman of the third district, and a surprise congressional candidate for the sixth district will file their Certificates of Candidacy this afternoon before the COMELEC.

He would only say that the surprise candidate for the sixth district is 31 years old. moremoremore
