Employers told,
pay 13 th month now

Central Visayas Labor and Employment Regional Director, Elias Cayanong , is urging employers in Region 7 to release the 13th month pay of their employees on or before December 24.

Cayanong said forms of compliance had already been sent to some employers whose workers are raising issues on their entitlement to the 13th month pay.

Cayanong said that, based on their experience in the past, some workers are complaining that their 13th month pay was either delayed or deficient in amount because the computation was not correct.

He said this complaint is common every December, especially because, under the law, the 13th month pay should be given on of before every December 24.

Cayanong said employers should give their workers the benefit since this is mandated by law. He said the DOLE is always willing to address any complaint on this matter.

Meanwhile, Cayanong said the DOLE has never ceased conducting inspection on establishments to determine whether employers are following the labor laws and standards. He said result of inspections had, so far, indicated that there are still some violations, like underpayment of wages and non-payment of benefits, which, he said, have already been addressed by the DOLE.*RA
