School to inaugurate
studio, lecture room

The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos College of Arts and Sciences will inaugurate its MassComm Studio and MedTech Lecture Room at 2:30 p.m. today, a press release from UNO-R in Bacolod City said.

A program at the university President’s Hall before the blessing will be highlighted by the signing of a memorandum of agreement aimed at mutual development and advancement between UNO-R and media outlets ABS-CBN and DYRL as partners, to be represented by Leilani Salem Alba and Renee Brillantes, respectively.

Representing the school will be its president, Fr. Sixto Bitangjol, vice president for Academics Fr. Raul Buhay and CAS dean Fr. Joel Alve, the press release said.

Tommy Montaño designed the renovation of the facilities while Perla Corpuz donated the air-conditioning unit at the Medical Technology Lecture Room.

The activity will include the unveiling of the college Bulletin, The Clover, and Research Journal and the launching of the CAS website, the press release also said.

Meanwhile, the Mass Communication Department of the school will hold a photo-exhibit entitled “Kartaps” at 10 a.m. today at the MassCom lobby, the press release said.

This is in line with the blessing of the university of its Mass Communication studio and launching of Heart Radio of the school.

“Kartaps” is a colloquial term for “karga” which means to carry and “tapas” to reap or harvest, the press release said.

The exhibit will feature the photographs by Masscom students Thessa Alba, Arjean Aguilar, Jan  Ajero, Ana Benit, Kenn Bermeo, Beverly Chua, Ryan Gonzaga, Gretchen Juanito, Majelia Hope Liguaton, Erwin Nicavera, Liezl Regodos, Kristine Rula, Jimven Marie Tasic, Shen  Verdeprado, and Franz Marie Villanueva.

The HeartMedia class is under the supervision of Bro. Jaazeal Jakosalem, the press release added.*

PAMET to induct officers

The Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. Negros Occidental Chapter will hold a Scientific Seminar, Induction of 2009-2011 officers and New Year's Party at L’Fisher Hotel, in Bacolod City on Sunday, a press release from the group said.

The topic will be "New Trends in Cytopathology" to be discussed by Dr. Melanie Rose Zerrudo, who will also be the inducting officer.

Registration will be from 8:15 to 9 a.m.

Lin-ay sang Negros
’99 gets married

Alex Calipusan of Bohol and Vianne Cadianza of La Castellana, Negros Occidental, were recently married by Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra at the St. Jude Thaddeus Diocesan Shrine in Bacolod City.

Cadianza, Lin-ay sang Negros 1999, is a nurse, while her husband is into real estate. They are both based in Las Vegas, USA.
