Rise from your indifference,
join rally vs. ConAss: bishop

A bigger  Church-led rally will be held in Bacolod City Monday to shout to the world that “We are staunchly opposed to ConAss,” and the imposition of martial law to prolong the stay of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in power, Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra said yesterday.

The bishop said he is calling on all citizens to rise from their stupor and indifference to join the rally against ConAss where they will clearly demand that President GMA step down and never seek any elective position.

“President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, never again,” Navarra said at a press conference at the Bishop’s House.moremoremore

‘Pray for Cory, stand
up for democracy’

Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra yesterday again called for prayers for former President Corazon Aquino, and said he hopes the Filipino people wake up and stand up for democracy as she did for the country.

The bishop called on the people to join in the prayers for Aquino, who is battling colon cancer, pointing out that the Sisters of Carmel are holding a mass for her at the Carmelite Monastery in Bacolod City 5:30 p.m. today.

Rumors through text messages spread yesterday that Aquino had died.moremoremore

Show your anger against moves to perpetuate President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s stay in power forever.

This was the call of Rep. Teofisto Guingona III (Bukidnon, 2nd District) at an interfaith rally at the Bacolod public plaza yesterday afternoon against Charter change that drew a crowd of 1,500.

Singer Rico Puno, who is also opposed to Chacha, entertained the crowd by singing “May Bukas Pa” and “My Love.” moremoremore
