House ratifies P150B
CARP bicam report

We’re still against it, 2 Negros solons say

Two Negros congressmen maintained their opposition as the  House of Representatives yesterday afternoon ratified the bicameral conference committee report strengthening the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program and extending the acquisition and distribution of all covered agricultural lands until June 30, 2014.

Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer (Neg. Occ., 4th District) said he manifested on the floor that he is  against the bicam report because it does not focus purely on support and financial services to CARP beneficiaries.

He also said congressmen were not given time to review the bicam report before it was put up for ratification.moremoremore

‘No double funding for school’

There was no double funding involved in the construction of the 3-storey Sum-ag Elementary School in Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod City, Goldwyn Nifras, Bacolod City Agriculturist and Bids and Awards Committee chairman, said yesterday.

Nifras was reacting to the claims of the political opponents of the mayor that the construction of the project was done in phases which is tantamount to double funding of a single project.

He said the project, with a total cost of P10.6 million, was funded from the Special Education Fund but was taken from budgets of different years.Omoremoremore
