for 33rd Milo Marathon

BY NIDA BUENAFE

The Negros Occidental Track and Field Association will tap the assistance of the City Government of Bacolod and the Provincial Government for staging of the 33rd Milo Marathon-Bacolod eliminations set on Aug. 30.

NOTAFA, headed by Roger Banzuela, has been designated to organize the annual event in Bacolod in coordination with the University of St. La Salle Varsity Sports Office under Malot Lozada.

Eric Panique of Himamaylan City and Meriam Miranda of Victorias topped last year’s 21K race in Bacolod and together with runners-up Rowell Hulleza and Allyn Grace Salas, both also from Himamaylan, represented the province to the national finals..

Enclaro tops
Binalbagan sportsfest

Showing dominance over the other participating teams, Barangay Enclaro basketeers romped off with three of the four championship trophies in the recent Binalbagan Sportsfest 2009.

Enclaro team beat Brgy. San Pedro in the Under-12 category, prevailed over Brgy. Canmoros in Under-17, and topped the Open division after outplaying Brgy. Miquis in the final round to capture three basketball titles during the summer sports competition in the town.

Slipping from the grasp of Enclaro was the 40-Up category where Brgy. Isabela ruled after beating Biscom.
