Gov. Isidro Zayco yesterday led the groundbreaking for a P1.3 million oil tanker calibration building on provincial government property in Bacolod City.
The facility is being built in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology and will calibrate mass and volume capacity of tankers, and haulers, and weighing scales.
The provincial government is contributing P1,037,783 to the construction, while the DOST is putting up P302,000 for equipment and furniture.
Income from calibration will be shared 70-30 in favor of the provincial government, the governor said.
The facility is expected to save businessmen from having to go to Iloilo for required calibration of vehicles and weighing scales that would be added costs.*
