A new shrine
Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra declared the Redemptorist Church as a diocesan Shrine of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Sunday, on the occasion of the Feast of Our Lady.
Msgr. Vic Rivas is the rector of the Shrine, with Frs. Ronaldo Quijano and Nitodel Soriano. The place was well-lighted, secured, and with banderitas, balloons and flowers. The “angels” were fully decorated, too.
The celebration started with a Mass, followed by a sale in the afternoon, procession from the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Shrine and back to the Church, to a concelebrated Mass officiated by Bishop Vicente Navarra.
Msgr. Vic thanked everybody, especially the benefactors, those from different religious organizations and everyone who helped to make the affair a success. Also held was a musical program and dinner, with a barrio fiesta theme.
At the fountain area, the West Negros University Band played a marching tune. Tables were arranged so that everyone could view the program going on.
The WNU Dance Troupe entertained hundreds of guests with their original and native dances. The last number was the famous Tinikling. Before the program ended, the dancers and the crowd joined the Tinikling.
Msgr. G. G. Gaston also tried his dancing prowess, so with Sister Mary from Mainland China, and other daring lovely ladies and gentleman.
Everybody enjoyed the chicken inasal, rice and soda for dinner, plus the famous dirty ice cream.
Thank God, there was no rain last Sunday and before we knew it, it was time to excuse ourselves since Ninfa and Perla Leonardia had to go back to DAILY STAR. But it was an evening of fun.
Remember: The worst criticism can bring out the best in you. God shares in our sorrow.*
