MANILA – Twenty-five outstanding locators in the country were recognized by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority for their significant contribution to economic growth and development, particularly in the creation of jobs.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo led the awarding of trophies to the winners during the 2009 PEZA Investors’ Recognition Day on Wednesday at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
She was assisted by Trade and Industry Secretary Peter Favila and PEZA Director-General Lilia de Lima.
The Outstanding Exporters Awards were given to Sunpower Philippines Manufacturing Corp., American Power Conversion Corp. BV, Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining Corp., Panasonic Communications Philippines Corp., Accenture Incorporated, and Convergy’s Philippines Services Corp.
The Outstanding Employer Awards were received by Toshiba Information Equipment (Philippines) Inc., Nidec Philippines Corporation, Epson Precision (Philippines) Inc., Teletech Customer Care Management Philippines Inc., Convergy’s Philippines Services Corp., Sitel Philippines Corp., Faremo International Incorp., and House Research and Development Pte., Ltd.
The Outstanding Community Project Awards went to Analog Devices Gen. Trias Inc., Hitachi Global Storage Technologies Philippines Corp., Samsung Electro-Mechanics Philippines Corp., Samsung Electronics Philippines Manufacturing Corp., Teletech Customer Care Management Philippines Inc., Sunpower Philippines Manufacturing Ltd., Hitec RCD Philippines Inc., and EMS Components Assembly Inc.
The Outstanding Environmental Performers Awards were given to Hitachi Global Storage Technologies Philippines Corp.; Rohm Electronics Philippines Inc.; Nikko Metals Philippines Inc.; and AGC Flat Glass Philippines Inc.
Those elevated to the Hall of Fame for being three-time winners in the various categories are the Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining Corp. (Outstanding Exporter), Nidec Philippines Corp. (Outstanding Exporter), NXP Semiconductors Philippines Inc. (Outstanding Community Project), Ford Motor Company Philippines Inc. (Outstanding Community Project), Ford Motor Company Philippines Inc. (Outstanding Environment Performer), and First Philippine Industrial Park (Outstanding Environment Performer).*PNA
