Surgeon flying home
to operate on child

A surgeon will fly back from the United States to Bacolod City on Monday, to operate on Beta Thalassemia Major patient Marshan Verdadero, 6, of Brgy. Binubuhan, Bago City, Negros Occidental, who is in danger of dying if immediate surgery (slenectomy), is not performed.

The physician, who requested not be named, will shoulder the expenses for the vaccines needed by the patient and will be the one to operate on him, Token Lizares who is spearheading the  fund-raising drive to help the boy said yesterday.

Lizares said the surgeon while in the U.S. read about Marshan’s case through the DAILY STAR website, www.visayandailystar.com.

She added that Marshan’s mother, Annabelle Verdadero, couldn’t hold her tears upon learning that her son would be getting another lease on life.

Also assisting in the medical expenses of Marshan are the Suntown Camp Foundation, Lingkod ER Foundation which assists in his monthly blood transfusion, RMC Foundation, the Torre family, VRHD of Bukay Ramos, and the Self Help Foundation in Brgy.
