Arroyo arriving
for award rites

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is scheduled to be in Bacolod City on May 13 for the awarding of the winners of the best public practices in Western Visayas sponsored by the Regional Development Council, Gov. Sally Perez said yesterday.

Perez, RDC chairman, said Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia will host the awarding rites at the Bacolod City Government Center,

The province of Negros Occidental, and San Carlos and Talisay cities are the top three winners of the RDC VI Best Public Sector Projects Award-Year 3.

The province of Negros Occidental won the Computerized RPTA System Project, San Carlos City – Eco-Center Project and Talisay City – Comprehensive Health Development Program, in the provincial/city government units category.

The top three winners for the municipal government units category are Nabas, Aklan that won the P.D. Health Nutrition Development Program, Sebaste, Antique – Integrated Health Care Program, and Sta. Barbara, Iloilo – Ecological Solid Waste Management Program.

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology VI, Department of Health 6 and Land Transportation Office VI were the top three winners in the regional line agencies category, while the Aklan State University, Capiz State University and U.P. in the Visayas were the top three winners in the state universities and colleges category.*CPG
