A frog birth?

A 23-year-old woman from Valladolid town, Negros Occidental, yesterday claimed she gave birth to a frog.

The woman, whose name is being withheld by the DAILY STAR for her privacy, told Bombo Radyo that the frog just squirted out of her womb around noon on April 24.

She said she had been carrying what she and her 26-year-old husband believed to be a baby since she last had her menstrual period on July 24, 2008.

The couple said that a quack doctor or “sirhuano”, told them that “engkantos” or para-normal creatures were behind the frog birth.

A midwife had earlier told the couple that she was indeed pregnant after hearing what she said were heartbeats through a stethoscope, the couple said.

The woman said she did not consult a doctor for an ultra-sound exam because she and her husband did not have money for it.

But the midwife later said that the woman may have had a case of molar pregnancy.

A molar pregnancy is the result of a genetic error during the fertilization process that leads to growth of abnormal tissue within the uterus, according to the American Pregnancy Association.

The frog now reportedly lives ina glass bottle at the couple’s house as advised by the quack doctor.*PP
