36 injured in accident
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

At least 36 passengers were rushed to two hospitals in Kabankalan City last night after the Ford Fierra they were riding fell into a sugarcane field about 10 to 12 feet below the highway, Aksyon Radyo Bacolod reported.

Four of the passengers were rushed to the Gumersindo Garcia Memorial Hospital in Kabankalan, while the rest were treated at the Kabankalan District Hospital, the report also said.

Louie Pico of the Disaster and Rescue Operative of Kabankalan said the incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. while the vehicle was trying to traverse about 90 meters of the steep part of the road from Kabankalan City proper to Brgy. Tampalon.

He said that the driver lost control of the vehicle and it slid down and fell.

There was no information available yet at the Kabankalan City police as of press time last night, since traffic investigator Police Officer 2 Jerry Tuazon was reportedly in the hospital checking on the injured passengers.

However, Supt. Calixto Mabugat, Kabankalan City police chief, told the DAILY STAR there were no reported casualties and most of the passengers had only minor injuries.*APN
