There was no stopping Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao from achieving greatness in boxing as he conquered Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto yesterday via a technical knockout in the final round to claim his seventh world title in as many divisions.

Pacquiao added to his collection Cotto's welterweight title, his seventh after winning the world championships in the flyweight, super bantamweight, featherweight, super featherweight, lightweight, and light welterweight.

His historic victory was personally witnessed by about 16,000 crowd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas , Nevada and millions of Filipinos and boxing followers all over the world, among them, the Negrense community who packed all venues where free live telecast of the bout was shown, and those who patiently waited for the delayed telecast in their television. moremoremore

Bacoleños in grief after a fire destroyed their homes and killed 17, yesterday jumped and shouted with joy as they watched their hero Manny Pacquiao defeat Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto via live telecast on a widescreen at the Barangay 19 gym in Bacolod City .

Parents and children waved their hands in the air and shouted at the top of their voices as Pacquiao scored points and finally won, while others on top of the houses they are rebuilding played a victory beat on their galvanized roofs.

suffers mild stroke

A 55-year-old Bacoleño suffered a mild stroke yesterday during the third round of the “Firepower” match where Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao knocked out Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto and sent him to the canvas.

Reports from Aksyon Radyo said Eduardo Sanico of Villa Angela Subdivision in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City , who is now confined at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital , noticed that his feet became numb and he could not stand.

When he reached the hospital, his mouth twisted and his speech became affected. Half of his body also became paralyzed, reports said. moremoremore
