‘Cebu, Bohol rebels
deployed in Negros’
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The Armed Forces of the Philippines Central Command in the Visayas has confirmed the deployment of Cebu and Samar-based New People’s Army cadres and red fighters to Negros.

Lt. Gen. Ralph Villanueva, AFP Central Command chief, said the rebels fled from Cebu and Bohol because they are no longer needed in those areas.

“They left Bohol and Cebu in the hope of gaining foothold in this area,” Villanueva, who had been briefed Sunday by senior military commanders in Sagay City, on the attack of a military outpost in Toboso, said.moremoremore

PNP to follow process
on prov’l director
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The selection of the new provincial police director of Negros Occidental has to go through the normal process, regional police spokesman Supt. Ranulfo Demiar said.

Demiar made the explanation after the turnover of NOPPO command from Senior Supt. Manuel Felix to Senior Supt. Primitivo Tabujara initially scheduled on Sept. 1 was cancelled indefinitely by the Police Regional Office 6.

Under the normal process, he said, the Senior Officers Placement and Promotion Board at Camp Crame submits a list of recommendees to the PRO6.moremoremore

N4NM opposes two flyovers,
another congressional district

BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Negrenses for Noynoy Movement yesterday issued position papers opposing the creation of a second congressional district and the construction of two flyovers in Bacolod City.

Bacolod Rep. Anthony Golez, with the support of most of the city’s officials, is pushing for a second congressional district, which he says will bring in more funds to address the various needs of the city.

“The N4NM civil society volunteers believe, however, that on the whole, Bacolod City’s supposed gains will be outweighed by the expected disadvantages,” its position paper said.moremoremore
