on ‘code white’

Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City went on “code white” yesterday in preparation for influx of firecracker blast victims after New Year’s eve.

CLMMRH chief of hospitals Epifania Simbul said their emergency and trauma rooms are now prepared to treat, not only firecracker blast victims, but also stabbing, shooting and even accident victims.

They have enough medicines and adequate hospital staff, she said.moremoremore

Mayor likens Rizal to comet

The 114th death anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal was marked yesterday by officials of Bacolod City and other stakeholders, a city hall press release said.

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who led local officials, representatives from non-government organizations and other government agencies, in his speech, compared Rizal’s brilliance to a comet.

“Rizal’s coming to the world is likened to a comet whose brilliance flashes only every so often,” Leonardia said.moremoremore

new campaign

The Army’s 3rd Infantry Division has adopted a new paradigm shift in its  internal security campaign against the remaining New People’s Army in Western Visayas next year, by “winning the peace”, its commander, Major General Vicente Porto, said.

“The coming year is an opportunity to professionalize our soldiers through a paradigm shift that will transform our perspectives on the 40-year-old insurgency, and eventually see an end to the conflict,” Porto said.

 “Oplan Bayanihan”, Porto said, focuses on winning the peace, instead of defeating the enemy.moremoremore
