two passengers killed

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A businessman and his female companion died when they were trapped inside their vehicle that accidentally fell into the sea Sunday night at the port 2 area of the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corporation in Bacolod City.

Killed were Ramon Vicete, 57, of Ayala North Point Subdivision, Talisay City, Negros Occidental and a 22-year-old fourth-year nursing student of Riverside College, whose name the police withheld, and a resident of Bago City, Negros Occidental.

Investigation conducted by Police Officers 3 Jose Roy Militante, Miller Dionio and Police Officer 2 Jonathan Guillena showed that Vicete had parked his red Mitsubishi Pajero with plate number FFC-860 at the BREDCO port at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday moremoremore

No price hike seen,
more rice arriving
BY CARLA GOMEZ

There is no cause for an increase in rice prices, Negros Occidental has adequate supply with more arriving this week, National Food Authority provincial head Pablito Gemarino yesterday said.

Gemarino gave the assurance as the Bureau of Customs continued to hold the shipment of 77,000 bags of National Food Authority rice from Vietnam at the BREDCO Port in Bacolod City following the discovery of crystalline-like chemical substance in 77 bags so far among them.

An initial test at a police laboratory showed that the crystalline substance was N-Methylephedrine but the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency later said it was ammonium sulfate.moremoremore
