Cops on full alert for GMA
cyber corridor tour today

The Negros Occidental and Bacolod police are on full alert for the arrival of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, who is visiting Teleperformance Philippines in Bacolod City, this afternoon as part of her nationwide cyber corridor tour.

She is scheduled to arrive at the Bacolod-Silay Airport at 2 p.m.  and motor to Teleperformance, where she will be welcomed by Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Rep. Monico Puentevella, Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, Junie Lizares – manager of the Luxur IT Park, and David Rizzo – president of Asia Pacific Teleperformance.

The president will then tour the business process outsourcing facility and join a short program where she will be welcomed by Leonardia.moremoremore

Hold off sugar importation,
Gloria asked

A Negros sugar farmers group yesterday appealed to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to hold off the importation of  150,000 metric tons  sugar being pushed by Trade and Industry Sec. Peter Favila until the  milling season is  over so  it can be determined if the need for it is  really necessary.

Gov. Isidro Zayco, on the other hand, said he will ask the President for Department of Agriculture cloudseeding assistance to induce rain and for irrigation expansion to mitigate the dry spell already hitting some parts of southern Negros Occidental.

Provincial government cloudseeding operations began yesterday, Zayco said.moremoremore

Protest to meet
Arroyo on visit

Members of the Kabataan party list group and its allied organizations will meet President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo with a protest action as she visits Bacolod City today, Julius Dagaton, Kabataan vice president for Visayas, said yesterday.

Arroyo is visiting Teleperformance Global Marketing and Teleservices Solutions at Magsaysay Avenue, Bacolod City.

Dagaton said that while Arroyo is boasting about the progress of the business process outsourcing industry, the unemployment rate in the country continues to increase.moremoremore
