DepEd vows
improved standards

BY RENE GENOVE

The new officer-in-charge Superintendent of the Department of Education in Siquijor has vowed to improve the academic performance of the schools in the province.

Dr. Joseph Irwin Lagura said their present strategy is to hold Saturday classes in preparation for the Regional Achievement Test and the National Achievement Test in March.

He said that the RAT and NAT examinations play a vital role because the results will serve as the scorecard, or the basis in ranking the Division Office.

Lagura said he has met with all school heads and urged them to do their best for the preparation for the exam.

He said that the Siquijor Division is now ranked eighth out of the 19 school divisions in Region 7 or Central Visayas.*RG
