Pepsi scare in TKP tilt

Mitzu Motors survived a late push by Pepsi, 92-87, while Macro Tide bested East West Bank, 89-73, in Class B action of the 10th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Cup Basketball Tournament at NOMPAC Gym.

Mitzu overcame a first quarter deficit of 24-19 to take a 47-35 halftime lead but the team went on a slump in the third canto with only two players delivering the points.

Still, Mitzu stayed ahead, 67-52, as the duo of Marc Lo and Brix Lucenara scored a total of 18 points for the Motor Guys even as Jeremiah Ormeo and Danilo Tenorio spreak 13 points between them for Pepsi.

Negrense shuttlers
join badminton clinic

Babolat Philippines in partnership with Racket Plus-Bacolod recently conducted a free badminton clinic at Pohang Badminton Center, in Bacolod City.

National team coach Ronald Magnaye spearheaded the training of close to 130 shuttlers from all over Negros.   The one-day event started with an exhibition match pitting Bacolod's local talents, Christian Crisostomo and Alex Borromeo against Team Babolat's roster of players.

In the first half of the session, participants were taught the basics of badminton from gripping the racket to making the perfect swing.  In the afternoon session, the group was divided according to player's skill with each player individually supervised by Magnaye.

Class ’82, ’73 bowlers
pace NOHS tourney

Class ’82 and Class ’73 held on to the 1-2 position in the premiere Class A category of the championship rounds of the Negros Occidental High School Inter-Class Alumni Bowling Tournament at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

Leading in Class B Department is Class ’86.

The Class ’82 ballrollers anchored by Cesar Sumaylo are leading with 3,038 pinfalls, as Class ’73 headed by Jose “Butch” Villagracia garnered 3,009.
