British zoo official
to visit NFEFI

Prof. Gordon McGregor-Reid, chief executive officer of the North of England Zoological Society, will visit the Negros Forests and Ecological Foundation Inc., in Bacolod City Feb. 13.

The Society also operates Chester Zoo, one of the largest in Europe, and one of the leading wildlife attractions in Britain with 1.3 million visitors a year, a press release from NFEFI trustee Robert Harland said yesterday.

The Society owns 150 hectares of land with about 50 ha developed to date. The collection currently includes about 7,000 animals of about different 500 species – half of which are now threatened with extinction in the wild state.  http://www.chesterzoo.org/, he added.

The NEZS-Chester Zoo currently supports a number of important and urgent conservation in the West Visayas Region; some of which are being implemented in partnership with NFEFI, the press release said.*
