Military informant
gets P1.1M bounty

A military informant who had helped facilitate the arrest of two self-confessed New People’s Army leaders in central Negros, got a P1.1 million reward, the Armed Forces of the Philippines said yesterday.
Emma Calderon, who admitted having been an executive committee member of the Kilusang Larangan-Central Negros, and her sister Joan, also a squad leader of the rebel unit, carried a bounty of P550,000 each, the AFP said in a statement.
The Calderon sisters who had pending arrest warrants for rebellion and murder charges in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, were arrested, the AFP said..

Overheated electric
fan caused fire

An overheated electric fan caused the fire in Brgy. 19, Bacolod City, at about 3 p.m. Friday that destroyed several houses, 12 stores, two warehouses and the baranagay day care center, reports from the Bureau of Fire Protection said yesterday.
Although the record from the BFP showed that there were only eight houses destroyed and three were damaged, the report of the City Department of Social Services and Development showed that the fire destroyed 16 and damaged 7 others.
Public Information Officer Insp. Jovelyn Zamar of the BFP said arson investigators Senior Fire Officer 1 Harry Fernandez, Fire Officer 3 Cornelio Silva and Fire Officer 1 Joey Michael Victoriano reported that the fire originated from the second floor of the residence and store owned by couple Fred and Rebecca Roque.

Granada Bacolaodiat champ

Barangay Granada immerged as champion among the eight groups that performed in the BacoLaodiat Street dance competition Saturday at the North Capitol road in Bacolod City.
It received a prize of P75,000 in cash and was also adjudged best in lantern and street dance, for which it received P5,000 as cash prize for each category.
The “What You See is What You get” group was named first runner-up and received P50,000 in cash while the group of Barangay 23 was second runner-up and got P25,000.
