‘Rotating blackouts’ seen

The Central Negros Electric Cooperative yesterday appealed anew to its consumers to conserve electricity and warned of load shedding activities or rotating blackouts due to limited power supply in the Western Visayas.

CENECO’s Roel Venus asked consumers to minimize the use of electrical appliances, especially during peak hours, or from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., and shift their activities or to do their tasks in the morning to lessen the power requirement of CENECO’s coverage area during peak hours.

On the average, Venus said, CENECO sheds 10 to 12 megawatts of electricity daily, once they get an advice from the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines that there is a need to lessen the use of power in the region.
