The widow of slain former Pulupandan mayor Luis Mondia Jr. yesterday called for prayers that her husband’s assassins will be conscience-stricken and reveal who ordered his killing, so that justice can be attained.

Evelinda Javier Mondia brought to Bacolod yesterday the remains of her husband who was gunned down near the Jaro Cathedral in Iloilo on Feb.17.

A team of policemen secured Mondia’s kin at the BREDCO port in Bacolod on the arrival of his remains, while another team was assigned to secure the wake at the Rolling Hills Memorial Chapels, Supt. Norberto Boston, Negros Occidental police public safety management commander, said.moremoremore

Houses of kin demolished

The house of a former barangay captain of Pulupandan and of 10 other reported relatives of slain former  mayor Luis Mondia in Barangay Zone 1-A in Pulupandan were demolished Friday.

Mondia, who was running for mayor against Peña, was killed near the Jaro Cathedral in Iloilo on Feb. 17 by suspected guns-for-hire.

Pulupandan Mayor Magdaleno Peña said yesterday that the demolition of the house of former Zone 1-A Barangay Captain Eduardo Española, a cousin of Mondia, and 10 others  located on the property of Frederico  Infante, town administrator,  was based on a valid demolition order.moremoremore

Sugar Regulatory Administrator Rafael Coscolluela who is running for governor of Negros Occidental in the May polls yesterday said he will abide with the latest decision of the Supreme Court and step down as SRA chief as soon as required.

The Supreme Courtreversed its Dec.1, 2009 decision yesterday and ruledthat appointed officials, including members of the judiciary and the poll body, who have filed their certificates of candidacy for the May 10 elections are “deemed resigned.”

Coscolluela who filed his COC for governor on Dec. 1, 2009has remained as administrator of the SRA.moremoremore
