| PDEA collars ‘pusher’
A suspected pusher, listed among the top 15 in the drugs watchlist of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. 2, Bacolod City, at about 3:30 p.m. yesterday.
Arrested after a weeklong surveillance was Junie Gonzaga, 41, of Purok Sigay, Brgy. 2, PDEA Negros chief, Intelligence Officer 3 Cirilo Baluma, said.
Baluma said Gonzaga was arrested as he handed an elongated sachet of suspected shabu to their agent who acted as a poseur-buyer in exchange for P500.
Gonzaga and his brother, whose name was not disclosed, get their drug supply from an unidentified Muslim in Manila, Baluma said.
Baluma said PDEA agents recovered three elongated plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a bamboo stick, a rolled aluminum foil, two lighters and an improvised scoop from Gonzaga, who is now detained at Police Station 2, while charges for violation of Sections 5, 11 and 12 of Republic Act 9165 for pushing, possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia are readied against him.
Baluma also said charges for violation of sections 5, 11 and 12 of RA9165 were filed against Eugene Pilanda, 27, of Purok Avocado, Brgy. 20, Bacolod City.

GUN BAN
2 more violators nabbed
Two more violators of the Comelec gun ban were arrested during the weekend in Pontevedra and Silay City, bringing to 31 the number of suspects nabbed for such violation in Negros Occidental.
Senior Inspector Argel Ancheta, Pontevedra police chief, yesterday said the arrest of Eugene Laus,29, on Sunday, was made after his neighbors complained he had been creating trouble in the place.
A police team led by SPO3 John Mar Lutayco arrested Laus and disarmed him of his .38 caliber revolver with two live ammunition.
A 17-inch bolo was also endorsed to the Pontevedra police station by the neighbors of Laus.
A day earlier, Edmon Galagate,22, was also arrested by troopers of the 6th Regional Public Safety Management Battalion, who were conducting combat operations at Hacienda Margasa 2, Brgy. Bagtic, Silay City.
Supt. Jerry Bartolome, Silay police chief, said a homemade pistolized 12-gauge shotgun with four ammunition was recovered from Galagate.
Senior Supt. Manuel Felix, police director of Negros Occidental, commended the 6th RPSMB troopers and Pontevedra policemen for their vigilance in the implementation of the firearms ban.*GPB

Ex-tanod injured
in stabbing: cops
A former tanod was stabbed and wounded in Brgy. Granada, Bacolod City at about 7 p.m. Sunday, Police Station 5 chief Insp. Renato Ofamen said yesterday.
Carlos Pablero, 38, of Hacienda Rosario Sur, Brgy. Granada, was rushed to the Riverside Medical Center with a stab wound on his back.
Pablero was on his motorcycle when three men flagged him down at a mango plantation at Hda. Santo Domingo, Granada, and stabbed him. The men took the victim’s motorcycle and fled, bringing with them their bladed weapon.
Meanwhile, Ryan Cañete, 25, of Purok 4, Brgy. 41, Bacolod was arrested at about noon yesterday at San Juan Street, Bacolod City by virtue of a warrant for homicide by Regional Trial Court Branch 50 Judge Roberto Chiongson with P100,000 bail.
Police Officer 2 Joshua Barile and Police Officer 2 Johnny Dela Peña with the Task Force Negros, also arrested Mark Celis of Himamaylan City, and a temporary resident of Purok Villa Servando, Brgy, Singcang-Airport at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Araneta Street, Bacolod City, for frustrated murder.
The arrest warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 55 Judge Franklin Demonteverde, with P120,000 in bail.*APN
