threatens Canlubang’s rule
BY NIDA BUENAFE

With Luisita ending Canlubang’s four-year dominance of the Seniors Tournament with a resounding victory Saturday, anticipation builds up in the 63rd PAL Interclub Golf Tournament as the regular men’s competition prepares for tee off tomorrow at the Negros Golf and Country Club in Marapara, Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City.

Luisita captured the Seniors title after a five-year drought, ousting defending champion Canlubang, 550-546, in the final round.

Negrenses Francis Gaston and Richie Garcia exploited their familiarity with the course as Gaston made an even-par 70 equivalent to 54 PAL Stableford points while Garcia made 46 for Luisita.

Guanzon boxers
prevail over foes

Improving their record and inching towards a wider recognition, local boxers JunJun “D Tiger” Sabillo and Art “El Matador” Villanueva, won convincing unanimous decision in the Boxing Blow-By-Blow extravaganza Sunday at the Casino Ampitheater in Bacolod City.

Sabillo (11-0-0-4KO) prevailed over Roel Honor of Agusan del Sur while flyweight Villanueva knocked out Sherwin Manatad of Butuan City, a late replacement of Daryll Amuncio, in round 7 of their 10-round fight.

In taming Honor, Sabillo displayed dominant boxing skills highlighted by a swift 4-punch combo to the head and body.
