Gov. Isidro Zayco yesterday said he was concerned over the lack of voters’ understanding, especially in remote areas, of the new automated voting system.

If the COMELEC is not fully prepared for poll automation and a failure of election is declared, our country could be faced with more trouble, he added.

The governor said that, in his visits to remote barangays in the province, many residents still do not understand what poll automation is all about.

He said actual demonstration of automated counting machines should be conducted, especially in bigger areas.

The governor said that while the local COMELEC officials have been conducting voters’ education campaigns there has been no actual demonstration using the machines.*CPG
