IN BAGO
Eyeglasses distributed

More than a thousand residents of Bago City availed of free eye examination and eyeglasses from the medical-vision missions conducted by Dr. James Weyrich of the EyeCare WeCare Foundation, Inc.

On board the Foundation’s mobile clinic, Weyrich and several volunteers traveled to Brgys. Poblacion, Atipuluan, Mailum, Ilijan, Tabunan, Taloc and Calumanggan in Bago City to provide free eye check up and eyeglasses. Similar missions were also held by Weyrich in Silay City and Valladolid.

During the mission, patients were pretested using an autorefractor then a tonometer, while their blood pressure were taken to determine medical problems that may affect their vision.

EyeCare WeCare has conducted several missions in the country since July 2005. Aside from the free eye exams and eyeglasses, those with cataracts, pteryglums and other medical eye problems were referred to local eye doctors for medical evaluation and treatment.

The Foundation also educates the beneficiaries by counseling them on how to take care of their vision and providing them with reading materials about the EyeCare WeCare mission.

Aside from Negros Occidental, Dr. Weyrich and his volunteer staff have been to Luzon and Visayas provinces to deliver free vision care to the indigents who need it.*NAB
