| IN NEG.OR. The executive director of the Negros Oriental Investment and Promotions Center said that if not for the ZTE scandal, the establishment of hydro power plants in Negros Oriental would have been pursued. At a forum on energy management, conservation and audit measures initiated by the Department of Science and Technology recently, Francel Martinez said that more than two years ago, investors from China had started negotiating with local businessmen on the establishment of a hydro power plant in Ayungon and in other areas. This was recalled as an offshoot of the NBN-ZTE controversy, Martinez said, adding that the plan had included the reopening of copper mining in Basay. | ||||||||||||||||
