Guimaras, Negros officials
agree on fishing boundary
BY CARLA GOMEZ
Negros Occidental and Guimaras officials yesterday agreed to follow the fishing grounds boundaries set by the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority between the two provinces, Pontevedra Mayor Jose Maria Alonso, chairman of the Central Negros Council for Coastal Development, said.
Guimaras mayors led by Gov. Felipe Nava met with their Negros Occidental counterparts led by Gov. Alfredo Marañon at the provincial Capitol in Bacolod City to discuss overlapping boundary problems.
Alonso said the meeting was held to come up with a win-win solution for an equitable sharing of the bounties of the sea by the two provinces.
