Don’t push your luck,
Magsie tells Iggy

“Iggy should not push his luck”.

That was the answer yesterday of Pulupandan Mayor Magdaleno “Magsie” Peña  to  the statement Monday of  Rep.  Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo (Neg. Occ., 5th District)  for him to stop picking  fights against women, and to keep out of  his district.

Arroyo had came to the defence   of his girlfriend, Grace Ibuna, after Peña said a real Negrense would be fielded in the fifth congressional district of Negros Occidental in 2013 and not a “San Juan outcast” in reference to Ibuna.

Ibuna, however, has not confirmed talk that she is running for the post after Arroyo’s third term ends in 2013.

“Why not pick on someone your own size, or better yet, why not pick on me instead,” Arroyo had told Peña.

In a press statement yesterday, Peña said Ibuna “is truly not my own size, because she is, in fact, my size and that of Iggy combined.”

“Remember, in 2007, I beat up my two brothers when they violated my domicile in Ubay.  Iggy is suffering from liver and intestinal ailment and a disc problem in his back and, likewise, a damage to his ribs caused by a skiing accident a few years ago,” he claimed.

“I do not want to fight a man with that physical condition as I would just end up hurting him,” Peña said.

“Even Ibuna calls Arroyo “Lolo” behind his back,” he added.

Arroyo said Peña’s allegations of his ailments were new to him, and that Ibuna’s calling him “lolo” was a term of endearment. “Since nobody loves  him (Peña) he would not know what it is all about,” Arroyo said.

Arroyo  said Peña, instead of talking nonsense, should instead talk about what he has done for his town.

“He should  concentrate on helping the people who elected him into office unless he stole the election,” Arroyo said.

Arroyo also asked how he is going to push his luck when he won’t be running for mayor of Pulupandan against Peña.

Peña said Arroyo should  prepare very hard for the candidacy of Ibuna  against the Yulo-Montilla-Lozada alliance as “I do not see the Aquino administration giving him any project for the 5th district.  I pity the mayors.”

To which Arroyo replied: “I already have some projects, surprise.”

“As for uniting the Montillas, Yulos and Lozada, I doubt if he (Peña) is the right man for the job. The people have not chosen who will take over the district but I know who is behind him and she owes a lot of people money,” Arroyo claimed.

On Arroyo’s statement that  he  should explain why the port in Pulupandan was closed down, Peña said the  “The port’s cargo-handling operations used to be undertaken by a losing KAMPI candidate Samson Mondia.  The port is operating, and up to now, vessels load and unload, it is just that this losing KAMPI candidate’s arrastre company cannot operate”.

Arroyo, a KAMPI official,  said what I heard is the Mondias were doing all right but he “strong armed” them.

On Arroyo’s attack on his mental condition, Peña said  “General Raymundo Jarque once said that I was a Genius, first name, Evil! Thank you!”

To which Arroyo said “I am sure Gen. Jarque meant that in a sarcastic way.”*CPG
