eyed vs. SC justices

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

An impeachment complaintbeing mulled against justices of the Supreme Courtwith theirflip-flopping decisions on the conversion of 16municipalitiesinto cities.

Bais City Mayor Karen Villanueva, however, said thiswillbe discussed during the national executive board meeting of the League of Cities in the Philippines, that started yesterday and ends tomorrowin Davao City.

Villanueva said the league is preparing for their next move onthe latest High Court decision declaring their application for cityhood as constitutional.

She said it will depend on the decision of the national board if it deems it necessary to file another motion for reconsideration, and to prepare a complaint for impeachment against Supreme Court justices who changed their decisions two or three times already.

One of the 16 newly converted towns into cities held a thanksgiving mass for what they calledanother milestone and history in the making as a result of the high court decision.

Guihulngan City Mayor Ernesto Reyes said it is respite for themthat the high court had decided the issue with finality, and for him to already identify himself with the League ofcities.*JG
