Marañon confident
of Pacquiao victory

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday said he is confident that the May 8 (Phil. time) boxing spectacle in Las Vegas between Philippines’ boxing hero Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley will end in another victory for the Filipino champion.

Marañon said he is following reports on Pacquiao’s training and he has observed that the boxer-turned-politician from Sarangani has been preparing well for the bout.

He seems to be in a very good condition and ready to face his opponent, the governor said, as he urged all Negrenses to support and pray for Pacquiao in his fight against Mosley, stressing that “his success is also the success of the entire Filipino nation.”

Batch ’73 led in the Class A division while ’68 and ’71 won in Category B and C departments in the Negros Occidental High School Inter-Class Alumni Bowling Tournament at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

Batch ’73 outsmarted President Mariano Tuvilla Cup and 2010 Inter-school Triangular Bowling winner Batch ’82 in 540-517, to claim their 10th crown in 15 years in the NOHS-organized tournament.

Class ’68 took the Class B title over Batch ’70 in the finals, 497-481, while Class ’71 won in bracket C by defeating the younger Batch ’95 in the up-the-ladder finals, 488-442.
