Degamo lauds Zubiri
on resignation move

BY MARICAR ARANAS

Negros Oriental Gov.  Roel Degamo admitted that he was surprised by the resignation of Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri after the senator’s name was involved in the alleged electoral fraud in the 2007 elections.

Zubiri submitted his resignation Wednesday, stating that he is willing to face the allegations thrown against him.

Degamo said he admires the move of Zubiri, in saving his family from further controversy and humiliation. He asked the community to respect the decision of the senator.

The governor said he understands the feeling of Zubiri, especially with the kind of society that is so judgmental and discriminating.

Degamo said it is a sad reality that the country has lost another good leader in the Senate, who truly works for the good of the people in the countryside.*MA
