PNP to rescue 2 minors
from entertainment bar

Mayor Marcela Bartoces of Sibulan, Negros Oriental, asked for the assistance of the Provincial Police Office to verify reports about two minors working in an entertainment bar in the municipality.

The mayor said she received reports that one of the entertainment bars has employed minors to perform lewd shows.

Bartoces admitted that her team has difficulty in conducting entrapment operations because the minors and the operator are always on the lookout every time they are around. The bar operator resides outside the province.

Alcala opens
nat’l veggies gab

Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala led the opening of the exhibit area at the three-day 9th National Vegetable Congress at the Negros Oriental Convention Center in Dumaguete City, yesterday.

. The participants of the congress are vegetable growers, producers and agriculture officers from different provinces nationwide.

In his message, Alcala extended his gratitude to the provincial government of Negros Oriental for hosting the 9th National Vegetable Congress. He is also thankful for the participation of the vegetable seed growers and producers for there participation in the exhibit.

Degamo lauds Zubiri
on resignation move

Negros Oriental Gov.  Roel Degamo admitted that he was surprised by the resignation of Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri after the senator’s name was involved in the alleged electoral fraud in the 2007 elections.

Zubiri submitted his resignation Wednesday, stating that he is willing to face the allegations thrown against him.

Degamo said he admires the move of Zubiri, in saving his family from further controversy and humiliation. He asked the community to respect the decision of the senator.
