Science shows
slated at mall

SM City Bacolod events for this month will kick off with the free Scien-terrific Mad Science Show 4 p.m. today at the mall’s Northing Event Centre.

Together with Mad Scientists Astroboy Arvin and Gravity Gideon, kids and kids-at-heart will experience making  water disappear, taste their burp and fly to the heavens during the show, a press release from SM said.

Fourteen children from Bacolod City and Negros Occidental will also vie for the SM Little Stars 2011 Regional Finals  at the Event Centre at 5 p.m. tomorrow.

Winners will represent SM City Bacolod in the SM Little Stars 2011 Grand Finals at SM Mall of Asia.

The monthly activity for senior citizens will be held on August 9 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Event Centre. This will be attended by the officers and members of the Federation of Senior Citizens Associations of Bacolod City. The activity will be highlighted by trainings to improve the well-being and quality of life of the elderly, the press release said.

Matinee idol John Lloyd Cruz will be brought to Bacolod to meet and greet fans  at the Event Centre 4 p.m. Aug. 13.

There will also be an audition of TV5′s Talentadong Pinoy on August 12 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Event Centre. Hosted by Ryan Agoncillo on television, the search aims to find dancers, singers, musicians and comedians, actors, impressionists, jugglers and magicians.

Keychains on
exhibit at museum

“Copoclephilist”, a term that means keychain collector,  is a title that can be given to Marina Montinola Silos, an avid keyholder collector for more than 40 years.

Silos has been very passionate about her collection that she was able to put together more than a thousand keychains and almost each item has a story behind it.  Now 95 years old, she would like to share her collection to the public, and the Dizon Ramos Museum has been generous to host it, a press release from the museum in Bacolod City said.

Starting today the collection will be displayed at the “Keychain Gallery” of the Dizon Ramos Museum on No. 42 Burgos – Lacson  streets, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, the press release added.*

ANCOP global walk
aims to raise funds

The  Couples for Christ’s “Answering the Cry of the Poor” will start registration of participants for the ANCOP Global Walk, today and tomorrow and on  August 12-14, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. at SM City Bacolod, a press release from the mall said.

The ANCOP 3-kilometer walk will be held on August 21, and will kick off at 5 p.m. from Crossing Bata to the Capitol Lagoon.

This walk aims to raise awareness and funds to finance a Child Scholarship Program that supports the education of thousands of students from Metro Manila and other provinces, the press release said.

ANCOP is responsible for the creation of Gawad Kalinga 10 years ago which spun off into an independent organization. The press release added.*
