DOE, oil firm heads
invited to House probe

The House Committee on Energy  is conducting a public hearing on two resolutions questioning the unusually high prices of fuel in Negros Occidental at the provincial Capitol in Bacolod City 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on August 19.

House Committee on Energy chairperson Henedina Razon-Abad in a letter to Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Frank Carbon, said the hearing will  be on Resolution 1170 filed by Bayan Muna Representatives Teddy Casiño and Neri Colmenares, and Resolution 1218 filed by Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District).

Invited to the public hearing are Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, Petron president Eric Recto, Pilipinias Shell president Edgar Chua, Chevron president  Jim Meynink, Total Philippines president and managing director Anna Whitehouse, Philippine Institute of Petroleum executive director Sally Monteiro, Independent Philippine Petroleum Companies Association president Fernando Martinez, Negros Occidental public officials, and business leaders.*CPG
