South Gate Inn of Batch ’94-’95 unleashed a last quarter fire power to vanquish Akasya Grill of Batch 2005,  104-92, as the elimination round of the LNA7-USLS Alumni Inter-Barkada Basketball Tournament ended Saturday at the West Negros University Gym.

Akasya Grill dominated the first half at 52-48, Chitboy Benedicto had a sizzling second half for South Gate and came up with 32 points, while teammates Popoy Jamero delivered 26 points and JG Villeran added 18 points to set the tone for a winning finish.

Nikos Cuenca had 21 points and Amrit Gidwani added 12 points for Akasya Grill’s losing effort as the squad slipped to fourth place. Despite the win, South Gate still lags behind at fifth spot in the team standings.

Going into the next round, Glitter Productions occupies the third spot after a rousing 90-83 win over the 4D squad of Batch ’92-’93.

Chino Melocoton’s 28 points and Mark Celestial’s 25 markers spelled the victory for Glitters who dominated the game starting in the first quarter despite the outstanding game from Gerald Baldonado and Glenn Trabasas for 4D.

Baldonado finished with 20 points while Trabasas contributed 19 points.*with a report from Jhun Paul Alacre
