Provincial Board approves
P7M supplemental budget

The Provincial Board of Negros Oriental has approved the P7 million supplemental budget requested by Gov. Roel Degamo to be used for the purchase of medicines and for financial assistance to indigents in the province.

Board Member Erwin Michael Macias expressed concerns over the safeguard for the disbursement of the budget. He said his office received information that some financial and medical assistance are converted into something else.

Macias said some individuals cannot be prevented from being very enterprising and they can make ways to convert the medical or financial assistance.

Board Member Saleto Erames suggested to the Provincial Board that they inform the office of the governor of the concern as he may not be aware of the unscrupulous transactions of some individuals.

Erames said this practice should be stopped because there are people who deserve assistance from the government.

Macias also promised to investigate and check the report but clarified that the move is not intended to put the governor in a bad light but to help him regulate these illegal activities.*MA
