visit to Bais City

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

President Benigno Aquino III will lead the blessing and inauguration of the P242-million modern market complex in Bais City, Negros Oriental, on Sept. 7, Bais Mayor Karen Villanueva said yesterday.

Villanueva said she believes one of the reasons why the President is coming to the inauguration of the facility, called the “Mercado de Bais”, is that it is one of a kind in the country.

Started during the term of her father, former Bais Mayor Hector Villanueva, the project has a sewage treatment plant, an ice-making plant, a cold storage system, a child-minding center, a travelers’ lounge and a private commercial area, she said.

Occupants of the existing satellite market in Bais City will be moved to the Mercado de Bais after the inauguration, she added.

Other activities for Aquino during his visit to Negros Oriental are still being arranged by the Presidential Management Staff, Villanueva also said.*JFP
