Cong. Albee Cup 3rd District Games
kicks off in Victorias City tomorrow

The 1st Cong. Albee Cup 2011 3rd District Games, featuring basketball and volleyball competitions among the five local government units in the Third District of Negros Occidental, will be launched tomorrow, 3 p.m., at the Victorias Coliseum in Victorias City.

The district-wide sporting event, organized by the office of Rep. Alfredo “Albee” Benitez, will be played in different venues of the District during weekends of September to December of this year.

Volleyball will be open to men and women teams, while basketball will have the open category and the tournament for 40 years old and above, a press release from the office of the congressman said.

Terra Dolce secures 2nd spot  
in SJI alumni basketball tilt

Terra Dolce (1990-92) secured the No. 2 spot by beating the Legends (1989 & earlier), 65-54, in the 4th St. John’s Institute Alumni Basketball Friendship Cup played at the Msgr. John B. Liu Activities Center.

The Legends had a hard time matching up with the frontline of Oliver Manaloto and Chris Javelosa as the duo delivered 18 and 14 points, respectively.

Terra Dolce opened the game with a 13-2 lead and finished with a 15-9 first quarter advantage as Manaoloto scored seven points and Jack Chan  added four points.

Swing for Change
tees off today

The 1st Swing For Change Golf Tournament organized by the Negros Volunteers for Change Foundation tees off today at the Marapara Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club in Bacolod City.

GSIS chairman and NVC trustee Daniel Lacson Jr. said they will hold the ceremonial tee off at around 11:45 a.m. with the tournament sponsors and organizers leading the ceremonies.

Around 150 golfers from different clubs in Manila, Cebu, Iloilo, Dumaguete, and host Negros Occidental are expected to join the tournament, Lacson said.
