Tourism officer told:
Liquidate cash advance
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

The senior tourism operations officer of Dumaguete City, Andrey Tumulak, has been ordered to liquidate P240,000 in cash advances made out in the name of City Administrator William Ablong early this year.

However, Tumulak said in a text message that he has submitted the settlement of the cash advance to the City Accounting Office, and there was no need to call him for his side of the story.

Ablong claimed P240,000 was allocated by the city government to fund the participation of the city contingent in the yearly Sinulog Festival in Cebu City in January.

He said he has already issued two memorandums to Tumulak to liquidate the amount as he was the one who had been issued the check and had endorsed it as the funding was urgently needed as the tourism officer could not get the cash advance himself.

Tumulak has reportedly gone on leave starting Thursday last week.

Meanwhile, Ablong said the Commission on Audit has a list of city government employees and officials with unliquidated cash advances.*JFP
