DTI sets forum on free trade

The Bureau of Export Trade Promotion of the Department of Trade and Industry will hold a forum on “Doing Business in Free Trade Areas” on October 13 in Bacolod City, DTI provincial director Rebecca Rascon said yesterday.

Rascon said the forum aims to improve competitiveness to exporters in doing business in nations where the Philippines has FTAs.

BETP wills also orient local exporters on the rules and preferential trades that will give more opportunity to exporters to engage in business with other countries, she said.

Last year, the DBFTA program started providing basic information on trade agreements of specific product sectors like motor vehicles and parts, food, home design and construction materials, wearable, coconut products, and minerals.

Local exporters are encouraged to attend the forum, Rascon said. Registration and materials are free, and DTI is encouraging exporters and importers to learn more about doing business with other nations.*LTG
