Giant Christmas
tree lighted up

The switch-on ceremony of the giant Christmas tree in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, was held recently, a press release from Kabankalan said.

The Christmas tree with the height of 25 feet is made of “bolo”, a smaller specie of a bamboo tree, and is located in front of the old city hall in front of the public plaza.

Present at the lights-on rite were Mayor Isidro Zayco with some city officials and employees. A mass preceded the rite at the St. Xavier Cathedral Church.

Also scheduled during the holiday season is the choral presentation of the schools and churches in the city, from Dec. 16 to Dec. 31.

A countdown will be held at the city plaza on Dec. 31 for the traditional ceremony for the New Year, and followed by a firework display.*
