Man injured in shooting
The lead man of a construction site was shot and injured in front of a mall in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City at 6 p.m. yesterday.
The victim was identified as Hernando Padol, 56, of SP Village in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City by Station 3 chief, Insp. Jose Mulleta.
Investigation showed that Padol was on his way home and was walking in front of the entrance of the Robinson’s Place when he was shot in his leg by a construction worker identified as Glenn Mark Mais, 18, of Purok Kasanag, Brgy. Mandalagan.
Mais evaded arrest but his elder brother Erwin, 21, who was with him when the shooting happened, was arrested and is now detained at Police Station 3, Mulleta said.
Mais might have harbored anger against Padol when the lead man allegedly kicked the hollow block brick being mounted by the suspect at the construction site behind the Robinson’s mall yesterday morning, Mulleta said.
He also said the .38 caliber revolver used by the suspect in shooting Padol has not been recovered.
Meanwhile, a man was arrested by Station 1 policemen at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday at the Bacolod public plaza for alleged illegal possession of firearms.
Station 1 commander, Chief Insp. Ulysses Ortiz, identified the one arrested yesterday as Rolan Fortuna, 32, of Brgy. General Luna, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
Police Officer 1 Leopoldo Semillano seized a .38 Smith and Wesson caliber revolver from Fortuna during his arrest.*APN
