There is no shortage of chicken and pork this holiday season in Western Visayas, Department of Agriculture regional technical director for operations, Emelyn Recoter, said.
However, she also said consumers should anticipate a possible increase in prices of these goods should the demand goes high as dictated by market forces.
She reminded the public that the increase in prices is a result of a higher demand and this is a natural economic phenomenon.
Western Visayas is 174 percent sufficient in swine, with the provinces of Negros Occidental and Iloilo as top suppliers, Recoter said.
For dressed chicken, on the other hand, Region 6 has posted a 93.5 percent sufficiency; 99.42 percent sufficient on dressed duck and 99.62 percent on chicken eggs.*PNA
