Ten priests in the Diocese of Dumaguete received the title of Chaplain of His Holiness during investiture rites held yesterday at the St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral in Dumaguete City.
Pope Benedict XVI bestowed the Papal Award “Capellano di Sua Santita” (Chaplain of Holiness) to Monsignors Lou Baroy Bayocboc (Episcopal Vicar-South), Albert Erasmo Garcia Bohol (Episcopal Vicar-North), Glenn Montebon Corsiga (Rector, St. Joseph Seminary College), Ramon Lozada Duran, Manuel Penuela Duetao (Senior Member, Diocesan Clergy), Julius Perpetuo Santos Heruela (Rector, Cathedral Parish), Carmelito Callao Torres (Senior Member, Diocesan Clergy), Gamaliel Du Tulabing, (Vicar General) Marino Patron Ybo (Superintendent, Diocesan Catholic Schools), and Thaddeu Stefano Zerna Quinit (Diocesan Chancellor).
The 10 were chosen among 85 members of the clergy of the Diocese.
Bishop John Du of the Diocese of Dumaguete celebrated the Mass in honor of St. Ambrose of Milan, and officiated at the investiture of the new Monsignors.
A Chaplain of His Holiness is a priest to whom the Pope has granted the title and will be addressed as Monsignor and have certain privileges.*JFP
