The 2nd Philippine National Fellowship for the L’Oreal’s For Women in Science program, with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and Department of Science and Technology, was held recently by Silliman University in Dumaguete City.

The ASEAN Science and Technico Director of L’Oreal Philippines, Polly Malacad, said Dumaguete was chosen as host because it was the center of excellence in the Visayas Regions. She said Dumaguete is the key city with potential outstanding awardees for the search.

The FWIS team host schools are in Ateneo University for National Capital Region, Silliman University for the Visayas, Ateneo de Davao for Mindanao, and Ateneo de Laguna for  Luzon.

The FWIS National Fellowships-Philippines will accept research proposals related to the Life and Material Sciences from applicants who hold masters and doctorate degree in any field of science, and should not be more than 35 years old, Malacad said.

The winning L’Oreal National Fellowship awardees will receive P400,000 cash prize from L’Oreal and UNESCO.*MA
